Viridian began in 2021 in a Johannesburg kitchen in South Africa.
An experiment in turning wax and fragrance into something other-worldly quickly became an obsession with developing something unique… and getting it exactly right.

I’ve always loved stories: the kind of tales that feel like you’re looking into another world.  Places with wooden floorboards, brass vases of herbs, cloaked travellers, streets lined with bakeries and apothecaries, and wisps of magic in the air.  I wanted my fragrances to capture that.

Not just to “smell nice”… but to transport. Anchor.  Shift the atmosphere of a room in a way that makes you a traveller in your own space.

So - I learned the craft properly.  Wax chemistry. Wick behaviour.  Fragrance structure. Burn science. Batch testing. Again, and again, until it worked the way I wanted it to. Viridian candles are made to burn cleanly and throw scent with purpose.  They’re artisan fantasy candles, handcrafted in small batches in South Africa for quality and attention to detail.

There are no generic fragrances here.  Every fragrance is blended to feel like you’ve escaped into a place or moment from a story - a raucous inn at dusk, a stone altar in a forest, a study lined with old books and older secrets.  When you light one, the room shifts.  That’s the point.

Everything is vegan.  Everything is pet-conscious. Packaging is chosen with the environment in mind. We’re nearly plastic-free and closing the gap.

As for me, I set out to create a space where you can escape the chaos of life for a while and feel at home in all the worlds we are expected to leave behind with our childhood.  And when I’m not creating, blending and testing, I’m either reading, writing stories, or sketching the next evolution of the Realm. Viridian is built slowly and intentionally.

There are no trends.  No noise.  Just craft.
