Viridian began in 2021 in a Johannesburg kitchen.
An experiment in turning wax and fragrance into something otherworldly quickly became an obsession with creating something unique... and getting it exactly right.

I’ve always loved stories: the kind that feel like you’re looking into another world.  Places with wooden floorboards, brass vases of herbs, cloaked travellers, streets lined with bakeries and apothecaries, and wisps of magic in the air.  I wanted fragrance to do that.

Not just “smell nice”… but to transport and anchor.  To shift the atmosphere of a room in a way that makes you a traveller in your own space.

So, I learned the craft properly. 
Wax chemistry.  Wick behaviour. Fragrance structure. Burn science. Batch testing. Again, and again, until it worked the way I wanted it to. Viridian candles are made to burn cleanly and throw scent with purpose.  They’re atmospheric tools. There are no generic fragrances here.

Every fragrance is blended to feel like you’ve escaped into a place or moment from a story: a raucous inn at dusk, a stone altar in a forest, a study lined with old books and older secrets.  When you light one, the room shifts.  That’s the point.

Vegetable soy wax.
Phthalate-free fragrance oils.
Cotton wicks.
No parabens or unnecessary fillers.

Everything is vegan.  Everything is pet-conscious.  Packaging is chosen with sustainability in mind. We’re nearly plastic-free, and closing the gap.

Viridian is for readers, dreamers, and dark academia souls - for book lovers who want their space to feel like a story.

As for me, I set out to create a space where you can escape the chaos of life for a while and feel at home in all the worlds we are expected to leave behind with our childhood.

And when I’m not creating, formulating and testing, I’m either reading, writing stories, or sketching the next evolution of the Realm. Viridian is built slowly and deliberately.

There are no trends here.  No noise.  Just craft.
