SIREN SONG POTION BACKLASH
Sea-Folk in Knots over Guild Remedy
Day 72 of the 5th Age
The Siren Song Inhibitor potion a well-known talisman against mental coercion has recently drawn formal objection from representatives of the Selkkin - land-dwelling descendants of the sea-folk.
The Delegation of Selk Tidings contends that the existence of such a potion implies malignancy within their bloodline.

Viridian Alchemists clarified that the potion, originally distilled for maritime safety, has only recently been adopted by townsfolk. This follows increasing reports of inlanders sleepwalking toward shorelines and riverbanks, alongside complaints of persistent mental fog.
Guild investigations confirmed that all affected individuals were “tide-bound”, though the specific Selkkin individuals responsible for these bindings remain unidentified.
Despite all evidence of townsfolk being under the charms of the Selk, the Delegation of Selk Tidings remains steadfast in their claims that the potion encourages slander of their people.
A Selk-elder stated:
“When you bottle resistance to our song, you suggest our song is a weapon.”
The Guild has acknowledged the concern and confirmed that a secondary formulation is in development as a conciliatory measure. The revised potion is intended to support Selkkin wellbeing. The original Siren Song Inhibitor will continue to be sold, with some enhancements.
No further details have been released.
