ASHEN ELDERS QUESTION SANGUIS PRACTICES
Mysterious faction alleges Sanguis over-harvesting
Day 72 of the 5th Age
A faction of the Undead known as the Ashen Elders has accused the Velvet Order of unethical practices in the sourcing of sanguis - the essence of the pure-blood.
The group alleges over-harvesting, suggesting that vampire lives are being strained in service of expanding trade. Such practices would violate the conduct prescribed by the Crimson Accords.
The Velvet Order remains custodian of the Accords, and the steward of lawful sanguis provision. Lady Isadora and Count Varek dismissed the claims as a “blood-smear campaign” and confirmed that no record of the Ashen Elders exists within the registry of recognised Houses.

The Crimson Accords govern all sanctioned trade of sanguis within the Realm, with strict provisions on consent, lineage, and use. Any breach would place the distillation of Viridian’s Sanguis Sanctificatus under immediate scrutiny.
Master Archivist Vaelan issued a brief response:
“The Viridian Guild remains compliant in its procurement of sanguis and continues to observe the standards set forth in the Accords. The Guild confirms that the sale of Sanguis potions remains unaffected.”
An inquiry into the claim has nonetheless been opened, with Lady Isadora offering support in identifying the individuals behind the faction.
